Join local rowing clubs for the first Regatta of 2022 on the Antrim Coast

The club received a visit from the Mayor Cllr. William McCaughey on Sunday 3rd October.

The successful inaugural Islandmagee Challenge

The Whitehead and Islandmagee coastline will be alive with activity this weekend as Whitehead Coastal Rowing Club (WCRC) hosts its first major event since the outbreak of the pandemic in March last year.

The first WCRC ‘Duathlon’ took place on Sat 1st Feb. Consisting of 1500m on the ERG followed by a 1350m run around the ‘hills’ of Whitehead.

Dylan Woods, son of WCRC rower Kelly Carmichael, along with three other Royal Navy submariners, just completed an epic world challenge after rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean in 36 days, six hours and 40 minutes.

WCRC went all out to support the Victorian Street Fair and create the Santa’s Grotto.

Thanks to everyone who bought our Christmas cards this year. We met Mark, Paul, Lucy & Jacqui and some of the children at Whitehaven and presented a cheque for £370.

Last weekend we had our first, rather wet, but successful excursion to the Lagan. Most of the participants marvelled at the lovely calm conditions and loved the experience.

Today saw the maiden voyage of our St Ayles Skiff "Kittiwake". We all breathed a sigh of relief when she didn't sink....and didn't leak.
